What could be a brilliant excuse?

We often manage an otherwise unapproved leave from our work saying ‘we are ill’. Sometimes we intentionally miss conferences (which boss finds necessary, but we find nonsense!) or appointments with people who bring no prospect to our lives, saying we were seriously ill on that day. Even we use the same excuse to avoid some social gatherings that bring together people who are Jack of all trades and Master of Gossip! Some people even spend time at places far away from home on their medical leaves. Some very social people make avail of medical leaves to spend time with their families.

Though bosses sometimes go mad about these people so as to understand how these people fall ill so often, but still maintain healthy looks!, the people who know how to be ‘ill on demand’ enjoy their lives as they want.

‘Being ill’ saves just any situation that we don’t want, even those we want, too. Probably, it holds its effectiveness due to the fact that no human can be rude to a sick person and who’s that fool who won’t take advantage of this precious human quality?

But can anyone tell me what a good excuse could be for missing an appointment with a doctor, when the excuse has to be given to the doctor himself?

A Real Lesson For All Alcohol Lovers!

(Just read the story first and then cross your eyes if it really demands)

The man: Well one more peg and I will go and have my bath…

(15 more minutes and one peg was finished)

The man: Umm….just one more, then a cool bath…sure…sure

(Ok, we could wait till he finished another peg)

The man: It’s time, my bath…it’s time

(So the man came out from his room and went towards the pond beside his house to have his bath. It was 12 noon then)

The man: (looking up)…why it’s so cloudy today?..... (Mumbling to himself) No sun no warmth…. No sun no warmth

(By then he reached to the pond. He dipped his feet into water)

The man: Eeeeeehh!…..it’s cold…sun, where are you?… come out, right now

(He sat on the submerged stair dipping himself up to his neck into water)

The man: You cold…you scare me?....huh!...my sun will save me…sun, come out. Kill those clouds and come out

(It was cloudy since the morning and the sun wasn’t seen till then. It was 12.45 pm then. The man was still 3/4th dipped into water and talking to sun)

The man: But dear sun, I just took a resolution. If you don’t show up, I won’t go out of water, even it kills me today. I know you will come up to save me….I know, my dear sun

(This went on for another 30 minutes…..and then his wife began to worry…and she came to take him out of this shit!)

The wife: Oh dear, sun won’t come out today. Please finish your bath and come out.

The man: No way, sun will come to see me…I must wait here

The wife: This is absurd. Nobody saw the sun since the morning; See, the sky is all covered with dense dark cloud. It may rain anytime. Please dear, come out. We are late for our lunch. The children are waiting

The man: Noh! No bath, no lunch until sun comes out

The Wife: Please, don’t do that, you will fall sick

The man: Care not. You go and have your lunch.

(His children appeared into the scene)

Daughter: Papa, please come out or you will catch a bad cold

The man: I will beta, but only when the sun shows up.

Son: Too much. Papa, come out or I will get down and fetch you out

The man: No no, then I will slip into deeper water, he he…you wont be able to catch me..ha ha ha

Son: Papa please

The man: Please, until sun comes out

Son: (anxiously) but it won’t

The man: It has to

(The drama went on for quite a long time….meaning a pretty long time. The wife and his children kept on requesting him on regular intervals but were unable to bring him out of water. As hours passed, the cloud changed its density on the sky, sometimes became lighter and then again denser, but no sign of sun to show up. The man’s determination didn’t seem to melt either. He was still inside water and kept on demanding the sun to come out of cloud).

The man: May I die today, but I won’t go out. You sun, you pigheaded…..you can’t fool me. If you don’t come out, I will sit down here till night….or till my death…hik…whichever comes first

(The family gave in, and decided to wait till the effect of alcohol died down and the man got his sense back. It was nearly 5 pm, time for sun set, than a miraculous thing happened. A thin layer of cloud over the sun seemed to back off uncovering a part of the sun)

The man: (yelling)..Rupa..Rupa….see the sun….see the sun…..it shows up

(At his yelling, his wife and children came running to the pond and looked up at the sky. To their greatest astonishment they noticed that the cloud moved away revealing a setting sun on the horizon. Soft sun rays filled the sky before the sun said good bye to its all admirers. The clouds around took that fade red colour and looked wonderful. The man was happy like a child. He yelled, waved, danced and did every bit to express his joy. And after almost 5 hours of that waterlogged drama, he came out of water.)

The piece is based on a true story.

Moral of the story:

Even mighty nature gives in to the determination of a drunkard!

Inference:

# 1 Alcohol boosts up our will power

# 2 Alcohol boosts up our confidence level

# 3 Alcohol helps bring sun light on cloudy days thereby helps in the physical/ professional activities that require direct sunlight, e.g. a solar cooker can seek help from alcohol for its proper function on cloudy days

# 4 Alcohol helps in keeping our body warm and protects us from catching cold

# 5 Alcohol helps us to demonstrate our children how to stick to an idea and chase it till the end.

# 6 Alcohol brings innocent joy to our life

# 7 There is a huge scope for trying on supernatural things with a few shots of…….

Conclusion:

Well, up to this, I think all of you know the right conclusion…..but do I really need to write that here?.. Everything is so open here…may be….may be….Gee! I lack confidence….ohh!...I think I need a booster……..

Disclaimer:

Nobody should blame me for popularizing alcohol!....I actually don’t. I just drew some inferences which were quite evident, from the above story. The story is as true as you are with your blood and flesh. If you don’t believe me, you can talk to my friend who told me the story. She lives in a village near Namkhana, South 24 Parganas, where the incident took place.

On nature's creative mood

Now-a-days we are mostly occupied by the destructive aspect of nature with devastating storms, flood, droughts, tsunami, forest fire, unpredictable snowfalls, and avalanches crashing on us one after another without giving enough time to recover from the last blow. We are now rather scared of our nature not being able to predict what more fretful thing it has in store for us. We have caused a lot of damages to our nature since we began building our civilizations bit by bit. Now it is nature’s most obvious turn to pay us back and probably we have no escape.

But an entity can never engage itself with only one kind of act in its whole life. Nature is too no exception, I think. While it destroys, it creates as well. As it hurts, it cures and soothes too. If we someday be able to stop harming our environment and find time to admire it as the ultimate creator, every one of us would forget our fear and love to experience nature at its creative mood.

These photographs were shot on a 12 km trek to Mainam Peak, 10700 ft from sea level, situated at South Sikkim. The trail begins from Ravangla, a small town 2000 ft below the peak. Walking through the hilly jungle of Mainam Wildlife Sanctuary, I found the nature with its creative mood making awesome motifs with trees, leaves, skies and lights.

During the rainy days, nature allowed weeds to grow on the branches of trees, and then thicken to give the woody branches a soft fluffy look. After rain, it impelled the leaves to dry up to catch that bright brown colour and stand out in the dark green background. Then, conspiring with the leaves on top of the taller trees, it created hindrance for sunrays to fall deep. Thus darkness took cover of several corners of the jungle, while sunlight enlightening the others, making an idyllic environment which promises to excite the keen eyes.

Nature paints, weaves, even makes arrangements for us to photograph, but only a few of its handicrafts have been revealed till date. Probably this is the quest for which we feel sheer attraction towards those hills, jungles and seas even being very much a part of our mechanical civilization.
